Chapter3: The meaning of leverage

심리학자들은 욕망이니 동기니 목적이니 보상이니 하는 단어들로 인간의 행위를 설명하지만 거짓말이다. 답변이 궁해서 그냥 지어낸 말이다. 남들이 물어보니까 뭐라도 대답을 해야겠는데 떠오르는 단어가 그것 뿐이다. 자유, 평등, 평화, 행복, 사랑, 정의, 윤리, 도덕 따위도 거짓이다. 그것은 행위의 결과에 따른 보상으로 주어지는 것이다. 해석이 들어간 것은 전부 가짜다. 어색하지 않게 말을 맞춘 것이다.

Psychologists describe human behaviors with words like desire, motive, purpose and compensation, but it is a lie. They are just making it up because of having nothing to answer. Actors are comfortable on stage. Sled dogs are comfortable while running. Gamblers are at ease while dealing the cards. But he is pushed out of the line. He is kicked out of the stage. He is about to lose all stakes. Humans are just trying to maintain close interaction with the environment, which requires leverage of meaning, spirit, and power. Ahead of the imminent end of the game, they are trying to avoid vanity and alienation and to be invited to the next game proudly with meaning and spirit. Desire is fake and meaning is real.

지렛대는 사건을 다음 단계로 연결한다. 이성을 만나면 가슴이 뛰는 것은 다음 단계가 있기 때문이다. 호르몬이 나오고 열정이 끓어오르고 흥분하기 때문에 인간은 그것을 한다. 인간의 삶에는 기세가 걸려 있고 기세를 유지하려면 사건을 다음 단계로 연결시켜야 한다. 무의식은 알고 있다. 뇌는 알고 있다. 무의식은 당신에게 물어보지도 않고 미리 다음 게임의 판돈을 준비한다.

Leverage connects events to the next level. Your heart beats when you meet the opposite sex because you expect the next step. 존재는 정靜이 아닌 동動이다. 동적환경의 불씨를 꺼트리면 안 된다. 달리는 호랑이 등에서 뛰어내릴 수 없다. 그런데 왜 하필 그것을 하는가? 대개는 다른 쪽이 막혔기 때문이다. 저쪽이 막혀서 이쪽으로 가는 것이다. 이것은 심리적인 동기가 아니고 물리적 이유다. 동기나 목적이나 욕망이나 보상은 가짜다. 안철수는 왜 그러는가? 진중권은 또 왜 그러는가? 그들에게 무슨 욕망이 있는게 아니다. 반대쪽이 막혔기 때문이다. 그리로 몰리고, 낚이고, 치이고, 휩쓸리고, 빠지는 것이다.

운칠기삼이라 했다. 환경이 칠할이고 인간이 삼할이다. 답은 환경과의 상호작용이다. 심리학자가 말하는 동기, 보상, 목적, 의도, 야망, 욕망은 인간 중심의 일방작용이다. 그게 있다해도 3할의 비중이다. 인간은 언제라도 돌아가는 판도 전체를 장악하고 판단하는 전략의 동물이다. 어떤 목표나 보상을 추구하는게 아니라 그냥 자기 영역과 세력과 서열을 지키려고 한다. 그것이 게임을 설계하는 지렛대다. 인간은 의사결정의 핸들을 놓치지 않으려고 한다. 때로는 핸들을 놓아야 하는데 놓지 못하므로 망한다. 지식인은 현명하게 핸들을 놓지만 무식인은 차라리 핸들을 쥐고 죽는게 낫다는게 사피엔스가 30만년 진화과정에서 얻은 경험칙이다. 스님들이 노상 내려놓아라고 말하지만 제 손으로 핸들에서 손을 뗄 수 있는 노무현은 없다.

Humans are animals that go anywhere. They need a boat to ride and a paddle to row. They want territory, power, rank, attraction, and spirit. They need plus factors.
