Chapter 11: Freedom and attraction

인류가 1만년 동안 주구장창 떠들어서 얻은 결론은 둘이다. 서구의 자유와 동양의 의리가 그것이다. 자유는 약자의 꿈이고 의리는 강자의 매너다. 근래에 자유는 정치적으로 오염되어 나쁜 의미로 많이 쓰이게 되었다. 서구가 강해졌기 때문이다. 강자의 무한 자유는 폭력으로 치닫기 다반사다.

Humanity finally got two answers through 10,000 years of infinite debate. It is freedom by the West and loyal by the East. Freedom is the hope of the weak, and loyal is the manners of the strong. Recently freedom has become politically polluted and used in a bad meaning. It happened because the West became stronger. And the infinite freedom of the strong often leads to violence.

“설사 단 한 사람만을 제외한 전 인류가 꼭 같은 의견을 갖고 있고 단 한 사람만이 반대의 의견을 가지고 있는 경우가 있다고 하더라도 인류에게 그 단 한 사람을 무턱대고 침묵시킬 정당한 권리가 없는 것은, 그 한 사람이 권력을 장악했을 때 전 인류를 무턱대고 침묵케 하는 것과 조금도 다를 바가 없기 때문이다.” [밀의 자유론]

"Even if all but one person has the same opinion and only one person has the opposite opinion, humanity does not have the right to blindly silence the one person. It is no different from the right to blindly silence all humanity when one person is in power." 〔On Liverty by John Stuart Mill〕

원래 자유는 억압에 맞서는 수동적인 개념이었다. 뭘 어쩌겠다는게 아니고 내가 알아서 할테니 괴롭히지만 말라는 것이다. 산업화 시대에 생산력이 증대하면서 부르주아 계급의 입지가 커진 것이 자유주의가 등장한 배경이다. 그들이 마이크를 잡은 것이다. 자유주의는 생산력이 증대된 현실을 사회의 질서에 반영해야 한다는 목소리다.

Originally freedom was a passive concept against oppression. That means “I won't bother you, so don't bother me.” However, liberalism emerged due to productivity increase and the expansion of the position of the bourgeois class in the industrial society. They caught the microphone. Liberalism is the right to speak that 'as productivity increase, it should be reflected in the order of society'.

인류가 자유를 누린 시기는 길게 잡아야 200년이다. 신대륙으로 진출하고, 산업화가 일어나고, 비료가 공급되어 식량난에서 해방되었다. 양차 세계대전이 끝나고 평화가 찾아온게 비로소 자유가 찾아온 것이다. 프랑스의 68혁명을 진정한 자유의 시발점으로 보아도 좋을 것이다. 한국은 학생인권조례가 아직도 통과되지 않은 지역이 있다. 남을 노예로 부리는 자는 자신을 노예취급 하는 것이다. 그런 인간 이하의 것들이 사는 지역은 멀리하는게 맞다. 남들이 그러지 말아달라고 애원하는데도 매몰차게 외면하고 개고기를 먹는 짓이나 여성을 차별하는 종교집단도 마찬가지다. 그것은 공공연한 폭력이며 폭력에는 물리력으로 맞서야 한다. 자유는 공공연한 폭력을 극복하는 문제다. 그런데 자유주의가 또다른 폭력을 조장하는게 현실이다.

The era in which mankind enjoyed freedom is 200 years at most. Entering the New World, industrialization took place, and humans were free from food shortages by development of fertilizer. Peace after two World Wars invited freedom. The real starting point of freedom would be May 68 in France. In Korea, there are still areas where Ordinance of Student Rights has not been passed. He who enslaves others, is like treating himself as a slave. You should stay away from areas where such subhuman things live. Despite the plea, people who eat dog meat casually and religious groups that discriminate against women are also the same. It is open violence, and violence must be combated by physical force. Freedom aims to overcome open violence. But in reality liberalism instigates another violence.

자유주의는 오염된 단어이고 나는 매력을 말하겠다. 세상을 움직이는 것은 연결이다. 시장을 연결시키는 것은 이윤이고, 사회를 연결시키는 것은 권력이고, 자연을 연결시키는 것은 기세이고, 물질을 연결시키는 것은 관성이고, 동료를 연결시키는 것은 의리이고, 개인을 연결시키는 것은 매력이다. 자유는 연결의 가능성이다. 자유는 선이 될 수도 있고 악이 될 수도 있는 모호한 상태다. 무한자유가 아니라 자신이 가진 매력 만큼의 자유가 인정되어야 한다. 자유의 파티에는 초대받을 자격이 있는 사람만 초대하는 것이다. 약자에게는 자유를 주고 강자에게는 매력을 요구해야 한다.

Liberalism is a polluted word, so I will say attraction. What moves the world is connection. Profits connect the market, power connects society, spirit connects nature, inertia connects materials, loyal connects colleagues, and attraction connects individuals. Freedom is the possibility of connection. It can be good or evil. Freedom should be recognized as much as one's attraction, not infinite freedom. Let's invite only those who deserve to be invited to the freedom festival. Let's give freedom to the weak and demand attraction to the strong.

세상은 연결이다. 생산력의 증대로 새로운 연결의 필요성이 대두된게 자유주의다. 자유가 좋은게 아니고 자유를 요구하게 하는 생산력 증대가 좋은 것이다. 생산력의 증대에 따른 새로운 연결이 신나는 것이다. IT 초창기에는 규제가 없었다. 비트코인이 등장할 때도 마찬가지다. 왜냐하면 남을 해치지 않기 때문이다. 일베가 등장하면서 역전되었다. 규제를 할 수 밖에 없게 된 것이다. 미국처럼 땅이 넓으면 집집마다 총기를 보유해도 남을 해칠 일이 많지 않다. 자유는 생산력 증대에 비례하며 생산력 증대로 기존질서가 무너지고 새 질서가 요구되는 그 때가 좋은 시절이다. 그 시기가 지나면 역전된다. 지구가 무한히 넓어지지 않는 한.

The world is a connection. New connections were required due to productivity increase, and liberalism emerged. The good thing is not freedom but productivity increase that demands it. New connections with productivity increase are exciting and pleasant. There were no regulations in the early days of IT. It was the same when Bitcoin appeared. Because they didn't hurt others. However, it was reversed when *Ilbe appeared and abused it. There was no choice but to regulate. If the land is as wide as the U.S. even if each house has a gun, it will not hurt others much. Freedom is proportional to productivity increase, it destroys the existing order as much as increased productivity, and new order is replaced. That is the era of good feelings. It turns around again after the era, unless the earth expands indefinitely.

농노제가 무너진 것은 페스트 때문이다. 사람이 귀해져서 사람의 가치가 올라간 것이다. 근래에는 SNS로 인해 개인의 매력이 증대했다. 개인의 가치가 커진 것이다. 개인이 더 많이 알고 더 많은 힘을 가지는 세상이다. 자유의 증대는 매력의 증대에 비례해야 한다. 유튜브를 하든 페북질을 하든 매력을 가진 자가 자유를 누린다.

Serfdom collapsed due to plague. As a person became precious, a person's value has increased. Recently, due to SNS, personal attraction has increased. It means that the value of the individual has increased. It is a world where individuals know more and have more power. The increase of freedom must be proportionate to the increase in attraction. Whether you're on YouTube or Facebook, you can enjoy freedom as much as your attraction.
