에너지의 이용 방법은 두 가지다. 하나는 에너지의 형태를 변화시키는 것이고, 둘은 동력을 직접 사용하는 것이다. 엔트로피 증가는 쓸 수 있는 에너지의 감소다. 그런데 사용할 수 있는 에너지의 감소라는 복잡한 레토릭은 좋지 않다. 말이 예쁘지 않다. 일단 에너지를 사용하는 방법이 두 가지나 있기 때문이다. 에너지의 사용방법을 구분하지 않아서 헷갈린다. 말을 잘 하자.

이용은 이롭게 하는 것이다. 에너지의 형태 변화는 간접으로 이롭고 동력은 직접으로 이롭다. 엔트로피 증가는 에너지의 직접적인 이용에 해당된다. 에너지가 움직이는 방향을 바꾸는게 아니라 정지한 것을 움직이게 하는게 엔트로피다.

열역학 1법칙 - 에너지는 매듭의 형태를 바꾸지만 총량은 불변이다.

우리가 무언가를 이용하는 것은 모두 매듭을 푸는 것이다. 밥을 먹는다. 밥통에서 한 숟가락을 분리한다. 옷을 입는다. 옷장에서 옷을 분리한다. 과일을 먹는다. 과일나무에서 과일을 뗀다. 결혼을 한다. 사돈집에서 배우자를 분리한다. 총을 쏜다. 총알을 총구에서 분리한다. 뭐든 이로운 것은 분리하는 것이다.

When you use something, it is to untie the knot. When you have a meal, you separate a spoon from the rice bowl. When you put on clothes, you separate the clothes from the closet. When you eat fruits, you pick the fruit from the fruit tree. When you are getting married. you separate your spouse from your parents in-law. When you shoot a gun, you separate the bullet from the muzzle. Whatever it is, it is beneficial.

반대로 합쳐지는 것도 있다. 나무가 자란다. 소년이 성장한다. 경제가 발전한다. 가게가 번창한다. 용돈이 늘어난다. 그런데 늘어나는 것은 당장 써먹는게 아니다. 나중에 쓰려고 자원을 모아두는 것이다. 당장 사용하는 것은 언제나 줄어든다. 자동차는 쓸수록 기름이 줄어든다. 사람은 쓸수록 수명이 줄어든다. 뭔가 몸에서 빠져나간다. 점점 지갑이 얇아진다.

On the contrary, there are things that combine. The tree grows. The boy grows up. The economy develops. The store is thriving. Allowance increases. But the increase is not an immediate use. It is to save resources for later use. Using it right now always decreases. The more cars use, the less gas they use. People have a shorter lifespan as they use it. Something comes out of your body. Using right now causes the decrease of available energy.

이용은 두 가지다. 형태변화와 직접소비다. 형태변화는 나중에 이롭고 직접소비는 당장 이롭다. 에너지의 직접이용은 과일을 따듯이 따는 것이다. 그것은 분리하는 것이다. 그러므로 무질서도가 증가한다.

There are two uses. It's the changes in form and direct consumption. Changes in form are beneficial later, and direct consumption is beneficial immediately. Direct use of energy is like picking fruits. That is to separate. The degree of disorder therefore increases.
