Chapter 9: Humanity Declaration

말을 하다보면 말이 권력을 가지고 사람이 말에 끌려가게 된다. 내 입을 떠난 말은 주워담을 수 없고 인간은 언어에 구속된다. 언어는 일관되어야 한다. 다음에 하는 말은 먼저 뱉은 말과 연동시켜야 한다. 그러다 보면 언어는 자체 엔진을 획득하고 자체 논리로 무장하고 인간의 손을 떠나버린다. 말을 바꾸지 못하므로 인간이 말에 맞추게 된다.

As the conversation continues, words gain power and people are dragged to words. You can't pick up words that have left your mouth, and humans are bound by language. Language need to gain consistency. And words must be linked to words spoken first. Only then can language acquire its own engine, armed with its own logic, and leave human hands. If you can't change your words, you have no choice but to be subordinated to your words.

나는 숨어서 내 몫 만큼만 살려고 했는데 잘 안 되었다. 다른 사람이 나서지 않으므로 내가 나서게도 된다. 인류는 통째로 잘못 가고 있다. 거함의 방향을 트는 인류 단위의 거대한 작업에 착수하지 않으면 안 된다. 말주변이 없어도 말하지 않을 수 없다.

I tried to hide and live as much as my share. But it didn't work out well. Since no one else came on stage, I played the role sometimes. Mankind is going the wrong way as a whole. We have to undertake a huge work of mankind unit to change our direction of a huge ship called mankind. I can't help speaking even if I'm not talkative.

과학은 배우는 것이고 철학은 말하는 것이다. 남들 앞에서 말하려면 아는 것으로 부족하고 하나가 더 있어야 한다. 무대가 세워져 있어야 한다. 마이크를 잡아야 한다. 발언권을 획득해야 한다. 치고 나가는 에너지가 필요하다.

Science is learning and philosophy is speaking. In order to speak in front of others, there must be one more thing besides knowing. There should be a stage. And you have to grab the microphone and gain the right to speak. You need the energy to go forward.

철학의 출발점은 인간선언이다. 인간다움이 있어야 한다. 인간과 동물은 다르고, 문명과 야만은 다르고, 진보와 보수는 다르다. 인간은 이성으로 동물과 차별화 하고, 문명은 매력으로 야만과 차별화 하고, 진보는 서로의 간격을 조절하여 매력을 보존한다. 철학은 각자의 매력을 보존하는 방향으로 움직이는 것이다. 생산력의 변화에 맞게 사회의 질서를 재편하는 방법으로 개인은 매력을 보존하여 인간다움을 지킬 수 있다.

Philosophy departs from the declaration of humanity. There should be humanity. Humans and animals are different, civilization and barbarism are different, and the progressive and conservative are different. Humans are distinguished from animals by reason, civilization is distinguished from barbarism by attraction, and the progressive preserves attraction by regulating each other’s distance. Philosophy moves in a way to preserve each other’s attraction. As a way to reorganize social order by changes in productivity, individuals preserve attraction and maintain humanity.

말이 통해야 인간이다. 10만년 전에 어느 사피엔스가 언어를 발명했다. 이후 동물과는 다른 길을 걸어왔다. 그러나 여전히 동물의 털가죽을 벗어던지지 못하고 있다. 말을 가로막는 것은 인간의 동물적 본능이다. 호르몬과 무의식이다. 적어도 말을 배운 사람이라면 동물에게는 없는 다른 것을 보여줘야 한다.

Only humans communicate each other. One hundred thousand years ago, one sapiens invented a language. Since then, humans have walked a different path from animals. At least anyone who has learned a language should show something different from an animal.

타인을 조종하는 주술어.. 약자가 암시를 걸어 타인의 마음을 조종한다.

타인을 따라가는 감성어.. 약자가 리액션과 눈치보기로 집단과 분위기를 맞춘다.

타인을 제압하는 권위어.. 강자가 대중을 질타하고 도덕적 훈화를 늘어놓으며 허세부린다.

타인을 차단하는 가식어.. 소승적 지식인이 냉소하고 조롱하고 회의하며 방어적인 태도로 일관한다.

타인과 연결하는 의리어.. 대승적 지식인이 공격적으로 판을 짜고 게임을 설계하고 타인을 초대하고 결과에 책임진다.

Magic word to manipulate others –The weak manipulate others’ mind by enchanting.

Emotion word to follow others –The weak match the atmosphere with the group by being conscious and reacting.

Authority word that overpower others –The strong are bluffing, criticizing the public, and offering moral advice.

Pretence word to block others –Narrow intellectuals remain cynical, ridiculed, skeptical, and defensive.

Loyal word to connect with others –Broad intellectuals aggressively plan the game, design the game, invite others, and take responsibility for the results.

다섯 가지 언어가 있다. 우리는 좋은 언어로 무장해야 한다. 약자가 짜증을 내고 히스테리를 부리는 것은 암시를 걸어서 타인의 마음을 조종하려는 주술행동이다. 아기의 어리광은 보호자에게 암시를 거는 것이다. 집단과 밀착하려는 행동이다. 문제는 그게 무의식적 행동이므로 본인이 자각하지 못한다는 점이다. 어른이 그런 행동을 한다면 위험하다. 감성행동은 집단을 끌어들이는 점에서 동물적 행동이다. 감성은 개인이 의사결정을 집단에 떠넘기는 것이다. 원시인은 위험한 상황에 몰렸을 때 개인이 판단하기보다 집단을 끌어들이는게 생존에 유리하지만 문명인이 원시인 행동을 한다면 곤란하다. 강자가 대중을 질타하며 도덕적 훈화를 늘어놓고 인간 위에 군림하려는 태도가 알고보면 두목 침팬지의 권력행동이다. 냉소하고 회의하며 쿨한 척 하는 가식적 이성주의도 역겨운 것이다. 그게 나약한 지식인의 현실도피다. 언어는 칼이다. 칼을 쥐었으면 요리가 나와야 하는데 고작 하는 짓이 자기방어다. 언어가 지식인의 갑옷이라면 허무하다. 좋은 언어를 획득한 자는 그 이상을 보여줘야 한다.

There are five words. You have to be armed with good language. When the weak get irritated and hysterical, it is an act of spell to control others' minds by enchanting. Acting like a baby is to imply to its guardian. It's an action to get in touch with the group. The problem is that it's an unconscious act and they don't realize it themselves. On the other hand, unlike babies, it is dangerous if adults behave like that. Emotional behavior is animal behavior because it attracts groups. However, emotion is just an act of passing decision-making on to groups. When primitive people are in a dangerous situation, it is better to get a group involved than to make personal judgments, But civilized man should not act like primitive people. The strong tries to reign over humans by criticizing the public, offering moral discipline, and it is like power behavior by boss chimpanzees. Pretentious rationality is cynical, skeptical and pretending to be easygoing, so that is also disgusting. It is just an escape from reality of weak intellectuals. Language is a knife. If you hold the knife, you have to complete the dish. But they are only falling into self-defense. It is futile if language is used as the armor of intellectuals. If you has acquired a good languang, you should show that level at least.

언어의 칼은 타인의 마음 침투한다. 가식적인 지식인은 언어로 자신을 방어하면서 그것을 이성이라고 한다. 공자가 가르친 것은 다르다. 칼을 쥐었으면 요리가 나와야 한다. 자동차를 샀으면 핸들을 쥐고 운전해야 한다. 언어를 얻었으면 공격적으로 타인의 가슴 속으로 쳐들어가야 한다. 사건을 일으키는 언어가 진짜다.

The sword of language penetrates the hearts of others. An pretentious intellectual defends himself in language, which is called reason. Confucius didn't teach like that. If you hold the knife, you have to complete the dish. If you bought a car, you have to hold the steering wheel and drive. If you have acquired a language, you should march into the hearts of others. The real language always causes events.

주술어는 타인을 조종하고, 감성어는 타인을 끌어들이며, 권위어는 타인을 제압하고, 가식어는 자신을 방어한다. 주술어, 감성어, 권위어, 가식어는 그라운드를 뛰는 선수들의 입장이고 게임의 주최측은 그 이상을 해야 한다. 소승적 이성이 소극적으로 사리를 분별하는 것이라면 대승적 의리는 적극적으로 미래를 예견하고 에너지를 끌어내고 계획을 세우는 것이다. 지렛대를 사용하여 환경의 변화에 맞대응 하는 것이다. 인간은 의리로 동물을 뛰어넘는다.

Magic word manipulates others, emotion word seduces others, authority word overpowers others, and pretense word blocks other. Magic word, emotional word, authority word, and fake word are only positions for players on the ground, and the organizers of the game should do more than that. Unlike the passive discernment of narrow reason, grand loyal is to actively predict the future, draw energy, and make plans. It is responding to the changes of environment by leverage. Humans overcome animal instinct by loyal.

옛날 사람들은 집에서 발가벗고 있다가 집에 손님이 찾아오면 드레스를 입었다. 주소가 address가 되었다. 주술과 감성과 권위와 이성은 혼자 있을 때 입는 옷이다. 공적인 공간에서 발언하기 위해서는 다른 옷을 입어야 한다. 초대장을 제시하고, 발언권을 얻어야 한다. 의리라는 드레스를 입어야, 전화번호라도 따고 address를 얻어 남의 집을 방문할 수 있다.

In the past, people were naked at home and wore dresses when guests visited them. ‘Add dress’ becomes the word ‘address’. Magic, emotion, authority, and reason are clothes you wear when you are alone. But you have to wear different clothes to speak in public. You should present an invitation and get the right to speak. You should wear a dress called loyal, so you can get a phone number and get a address to visit someone else's house.

공자의 군자론과 니체의 초인설은 인간선언이다. 석가의 해탈이 고통으로부터 자신을 방어하는 소승적 이성주의라면 대승의 정토사상은 보다 공격적인 의리로 나아간 것이다. 주술과 감성과 권위와 가식적 이성을 뛰어넘어 인간의 도리를 다하는 의리를 갖추어야 한다. 왜냐하면 당신은 손에 칼을 쥐었기 때문이다. 다들 돌도끼로 만족하고 있는데 누가 처음으로 무쇠칼을 가져왔다면 그 사람은 뒤따르는 후과에 책임을 져야 한다. 이미 그 칼로 타인의 가슴을 무수히 찔렀다. 사람을 흥분하게 만들었다. 각운동량이 증대되었다. 매력이 늘어났다. 어쩔 것인가? 감당해야 한다.

There is Confucius' ‘Gentleman’ and Nietzsche's ‘Overman’ as humanity declaration. If Sakyamuni's Haetal was a narrow-minded rationalism that defended himself from pain, ‘Pure Land’ idea progressed more aggressively to its broad loyal in the group. Beyond magic, emotion, authority, and pretense, you must have loyal for human duty. Because you held a knife in your hand. Everyone is satisfied with the stone axe, and if anyone owns a cast iron knife, he should take responsibility for its use. The knife has already penetrated the heart of others countless times. There happen countless storms in their mind. Angular momentum has increased. The charm was amplified. What are you supposed to do? You must endure and go forward.
