Chapter6: The type of competition

집단의 의사결정은 경쟁을 통해 가능하다. 경쟁 외에 추첨, 발탁, 세습, 담합, 강요의 방법이 있지만 대개 납득하지 못한다. 검증수단이 없기 때문이다. 인류가 무시로 전쟁을 하고 자본주의 시장경쟁을 하고 선거를 통한 경쟁, 시험을 통한 경쟁을 하는 이유는 그것이 집단의 구성원들에게 집단의 의사결정을 납득하게 하는 유일한 방법이기 때문이다. 집단이 결정을 했는데 구성원들이 받아들이지 않는다면 결정을 폐기하거나 사람을 죽이는 수밖에 없다. 민주주의와 자본주의는 옳은 제도가 아니다. 인류가 더 좋은 방법을 찾지 못했으므로 현재로서는 이렇게 가는 수밖에 없다.

Decision making by a group is possible through competition. There are also methods of draw, selection, succession, collusion, and coercion, not competition. However, they are not usually recognized because there is no verification means. Humanity competes through frequent wars, capitalistic market competition, and elections and tests. 집단의 의사결정은 경쟁을 통해 가능하며 사회의 생산력 변화에 따라 경쟁의 단위가 변한다. 문명경쟁, 국가경쟁, 가문경쟁, 가족경쟁, 개인경쟁이 있다. 생산력의 변화는 봉건시대의 가문경쟁을 근대사회의 가족경쟁으로, 현대사회의 개인경쟁으로 바꾼다. 봉건사회라면 문제가 있어도 국가의 잘못이라는 사실을 깨닫지 못하고 가문 안에서 해결하려고 했다. 문중이 제사를 잘못 지냈거나 묘자리를 잘못 썼다고 믿은 것이다. 근래에 와서는 가장이 잘해야 하는 시대가 되었고, 현대사회는 개인이 책임지는 시대가 되었다. 30년 전만 해도 형은 대학에 보내고 동생은 공장으로 보내는 형편이었다. 대학 나온 형이 동생을 책임져야 한다. 남자만 군대를 가는게 불공정이라고 말하는 사람은 없었다. 가족 안에 여자도 있고 남자도 있으므로 셈셈이다.

The unit of competition changes as the productivity of society changes. It includes civil competition, nation competition, clan competition, family competition, individual competition. Changes in productivity turn feudal clan competition into family competition in modern society and individual competition in contemporary society. The feudal society did not realize that any problems were the fault of the state, so they tried to solve them within the family. In the family competition unit, there were women and men in the family, so it didn't matter.

진보는 생산력의 변화에 맞게 경쟁의 룰을 바꾸려고 하고 보수는 익숙한 과거의 룰을 고집한다. 지식인들이 진보니 보수니 민주주의니 전체주의니 하며 프레임을 걸지만 개수작이고 본질은 환경변화를 반영하는 제도의 변화다. 산업이 변하므로 룰이 바뀌는 것이다. 후진국은 산업이 바뀌지 않으므로 가족단위 혹은 가문 단위로 경쟁하는 봉건시대의 룰을 뜯어고치지 못한다. 아프가니스탄이 낙후한 이유다. 가장이 권력을 가지고 족장이 권력을 가진다. 이것은 옳고 그름의 문제가 아니라 생산력의 한계다.

Progress tries to change the rules of competition to match changes in productivity, while conservatives try to maintain familiar past rules. 가족경쟁 시대에 가족이 없는 사람은 국가가 가족이 되어준다. 백인과 부자는 역차별을 받아도 납득한다. 자신은 피부색 덕을 보고 부자아빠 덕을 보니까. 흑인과 빈민은 출발점부터 손해를 보는 만큼 국가가 개입해서 보정해야 한다. 21세기는 개인경쟁 시대다. 가족의 의미가 퇴색한 만큼 역차별에 예민하게 반응한다. 가족경쟁 시대는 인맥도 그 사람의 능력이지만 개인경쟁 시대라면 인맥 덕을 보거나 지연, 학연 덕을 보는 것을 허용할 수 없다. 조국의 표창장을 물고 늘어지는 이유다. 개인주의 시대에 왜 가족이 뒤에서 돕냐? 윤석열 일가의 비리에 대해서는 관대하다. 윤석열은 가족주의를 주장하기 때문이다. 가족끼리 서로 도와야지.

Democracy is a system that reflects changes in industry. Democracy only works in countries where industry thrives.
