Chapter7: The politics of leverage

정치는 지렛대 게임이다. 어떻게든 말꼬리를 잡고 프레임을 걸고 지렛대를 박아서 상대방의 동선을 묶는 통제권을 확보하려고 혈안이 된다. 까방권은 손에 넣고 까는 권리는 극대화 한다. 엄살을 부리는가 하면 일부러 속는 척 한다. 짜고치기에 프레임 놀음이다. 그렇게 권력의 지렛대는 만들어진다.

Politics is a game of leverage. In one way, they are always nitpicking, locks opponents in the frame, and fixes the lever to limit the opponent's movements. They devise all means to get the right of control. And they maximizes the right of not getting blamed and the right of blaming. They, on purpose, exaggerate the situation and pretend to be deceived.It is a frame play of sweetheart deal. That's how leverage of power is created.

윤석열의 전두환 발언은 자연스럽게 나온 말이다. 할배들이 무시로 그런 말을 한다. 사석에서 할 수 있는 말인데 공석에서 한게 잘못이다. 윤석열이 수습하려고 해도 말을 어떻게 꺼내야 할지 몰라서 어버버버 한다. 전두환을 입에 담은 사실 자체가 이차가해가 되는 것인가? 지역주의를 끌어들이면 충청이 호남에 붙을텐데 그것을 아는 경상도 사람을 불쾌하게 한게 잘못인가? 이런 것은 일반인 수준에서는 감당할 수 없는 고도의 정치게임이다.

언어에 지렛대가 있다. 지렛대가 박히면 죽는다. 상대가 내 말을 어떻게 받아들일지 입장바꿔 생각하는 훈련이 되어 있어야 한다. 추미애가 외눈을 외눈이라고 했다고 씹히는 세상이다. 경찰 간부가 여성들이 짧은 옷차림으로 밤길을 돌아다니면 범죄위험에 노출된다고 말했다가 곤욕을 치르곤 한다. 다른 나라에도 그런 예가 많다. 경찰은 순수하게 사실을 말했을 뿐이다. 여성이 밤에 외출하지 않으면 성범죄가 줄어드는게 맞다. 문제는 그게 정치가 아니라는 거다. 경찰간부는 정치인이 아니므로 정치적 올바름까지 생각 못한다. 정치가 바를 정짜를 쓰는 데는 이유가 있다.

The police just told the truth purely. If a woman does not go out at night, sex crimes should be reduced. The problem is that it's not political. Since the police officer is not a politician, he cannot even think of political correctness. There is a reason why Korean politics ‘정치’ means ‘ruling correctness’.

경찰.. 내 말이 맞잖아. 뭐가 틀렸어. 내 딸이라도 심야에 외출은 삼가라고 할 거다.

국민.. 그게 너의 지렛대냐?

대화가 안 통하는 장면이다. 정치의 목적은 모든 사람에게 공정하게 지렛대를 나눠주는 것이다. 여성은 범죄자의 접근을 막는 지렛대를 가져야 한다. 정치인이라면 정치인처럼 사유하는 훈련을 해야 한다. 정치의 본질은 다스림이다. 다스림은 만인이 공정하게 지렛대를 가지는 것이다. 누구든 일방적으로 당하지 않게 대항수단을 가져야 한다. 세력간 힘의 균형에 의해 지렛대는 만들어진다. 여성과 남성의 힘이 균형에 도달할 때까지 정치가 끌어줘야 한다.

It's a scene where they can't communicate with each other. The purpose of politics is to distribute leverage fairly to everyone. Women must have leverage to prevent access to criminals. Politicians should train to think like politicians. The essence of politics is ruling. Ruling is for everyone to have leverage fairly. People must have a means of opposition so that no one is subjected to it unilaterally. Leverage is created by the balance of power between forces. Politics must lead until the power of women and men reaches balance.

전두환은 국민의 지렛대를 빼앗아갔다. 국민은 자신을 방어할 수 없게 되었다. 현실에서 전두환이라는 이름은 대한민국을 끔찍한 과거로 되돌리지 못하게 막는 지렛대로 기능하고 있다는 사실을 윤석열이 몰랐다. 어떤 또라이가 나타나서 대한민국을 과거로 되돌리려고 하면 우리는 전두환으로 막는다. 일본도 같다. 토착왜구냐? 이 말 한 마디로 해결이다. 구시대의 소모적 논쟁을 막는 지렛대로 기여한다.

Chun Doo-hwan took away the leverage of the people. The people have become unable to defend themselves. In reality now, Yoon Seok-yeol did not know that the name Chun Doo-hwan functions as leverage to prevent South Korea from returning to a terrible past. When a lunatic appears and tries to bring Korea back to the past, we block it with leverage called Chun Doo-hwan. Japan is the same as us. Are you Japanese raider? This word will solve everything. It serves as leverage to prevent old-fashioned wasteful arguments.

우파라 해도 마찬가지다. 조선왕조 양반의 지배를 반대하고, 일본의 식민지 지배를 반대하고, 북한의 공산주의 지배를 반대하고, 전두환의 독재를 반대한다는 전제로 민주주의 게임에 참여할 자격을 주는 것이다. 국민이 지렛대를 가지지 못했던 과거로 돌아가려는 자는 게임에 참여할 자격이 없다. 룰을 존중하지 않는 자는 게임에 끼워주지 않는다.

The same goes for the right. It gives them the right to participate in democratic games on the premise of opposing the rule of the *yangban of the Joseon Dynasty, the colonial rule of Japan, the communist rule of North Korea, and the dictatorship of Chun Doo-hwan. 정치는 세력들 간의 힘의 균형에 의해 작동한다. 한국에서 균형을 깨는 것은 경상도 쪽수다. 윤석열 발언의 문제는 경상도 쪽수의 횡포를 막는 충청도의 지렛대다. 경상도가 쪽수로 우격다짐을 시도하면 충청은 호남에 붙는다. 이건 지켜야 할 국룰이다. 사실관계는 중요하지 않다. 팩트놀음은 부질없다. 정치는 하나의 균형이 무너지면 새로운 균형점을 찾아낼때까지 일직선으로 간다. 대한민국이 어렵게 균형을 맞춰놨는데 아무 것도 모르는 정치초보 윤석열이 깽판치는 바람에 게임 참가자들이 일제히 뒷목을 잡고 쓰러지고 있다.

Politics operates by the balance of power between forces. The population of Gyeongsang-do plays role of a balance breaker in Korea. The problem with Yoon Seok-yeol's remarks is the leverage of Chungcheong-do to prevent the tyranny of the population of Gyeongsang-do. If Gyeongsang-do does something recklessly with its population, Chungcheong-do will stand on the side of Jeolla-do. This is the same rule as constitution that must be obeyed. It doesn't matter whether it's true or not. The game of fact is useless. Politics goes in a straight line until a new balance is found when one balance collapses. Yoon Seok-yeol, a political novice who knows nothing even though South Korea has managed to balance it, is screwing up the game, and he is pissing off the game participants.
